There is a listed site on the border between the city of Utrecht and the Leidsche Rijn development called Rood Noot. Rood Noot is being used by an artists’ collective and regularly houses performances and other activities.

We worked together with Kirsten Roosendaal, Peter Kopla and Wout de Boer on plans to redevelop the attached barn and the attic. We wanted to retain and/or use the atmosphere of the spaces as much as possible. This resulted in plans for four rooms on two floors in the attic to create living space for visiting artists working at Rood Noot.

We also developed plans to make the old barn attachment usable in winter, as it currently has no heating.
